Some hints on
how to choose fuel pipes
we do not wish to be a full technical report on smoke emission, first and foremost
the national and local regulations on installations apply.
Our aim is only to provide a few hints on how to choose the right
product and material from the amongst those available.
When choosing a metal pipe for emitting smoke from household appliances,
we must bear a few precise factors in mind such as
 |
temperature of the smoke: the
smoke from gas appliances is normally lower in temperature than that
of solid fuel like wood and coal burning appliances. Consequently
for the later it is better to avoid flue pipes made with materials
that are not resistant to high temperures like aluminium pipes for
example or which are coated in paints that are not heat resistant
(paints without silicone).
|
 |
tightness requirements: in the
case of forced draught burners and boilers like in wood pellet
burning appliances pipes must be air tight and seals must be fitted.
|
 |
appearance: this is a
important factor when a flue pipe is installed in such a way that it
is visible in a room. In this instance it is important to avoid
products that are good from a technical point of view but which may
not look attractive like stainless steel pipes become black
and blue if fitted to a solid fuel boiler due to the high temperatures.
Care should also be taken with painted pipes even the best painted
pipes are not colour fast at high temperatures.
|
 |
price factor: the cost of a
product must also be assessed according to the use to which it is
put. It would be a waste to fit an expensive stainless steel
double-walled flue to an extractor hood. |
Black enamelled pipes for wood pellet stoves
with Ø
80 -100mm flue connections

Hot or what?
This is a range
of pipes designed specifically for wood pellet stoves. Made of matt black
vitreous enamelled steel (coated on the inside too), they are 1.2 mm.
thick and are fitted with a gasket. They are perfectly resistant even to
extreme conditions such as when soot burns (i.e. the un-burnt parts of
soot burn inside the pipe) without being spoilt or undergoing any
alterations. Obviously, if soot should burn, the silicone gaskets must be
checked to ensure they have not been damaged.
